For nearly 40 years, Bruce was a news and current affairs presenter, interviewer and producer with the BBC - the final ten years as a BBC Lobby Correspondent and member of the House of Commons Press Gallery at Westminster.

He is one of the very few current broadcasters to have interviewed every Prime Minister to hold the office since Winston Churchill.

While still making appearances on British television and radio, and doing film voice-overs, he now concentrates mainly on charitable work. He is Chairman of the Elizabeth College Foundation (Guernsey), Chairman of the Friends of Winchester Cathedral, a Cathedral Trustee and Countess of Brecknock Hospice Trustee.

Bruce also writes regularly for newspapers and periodicals. His 'History of Elizabeth College, Guernsey' was published in November 2011 and 'History of Guernsey Full-Bore Rifle Shooting' in 2016.

He was made MBE in the 2017 New Year's Honours.
